Advertise or die! No, really.


Why do most people make marketing so complicated? It's probably because they don't start by answering the single most important sellers question.. If you can answer this you'll be able to outsell you competition by a factor of 10!
What is it? Now don't roll your eyes when I say this.. but, the most important question to answer is simply, "What am I selling"? Believe it or not, your competition has probably never bothered to come up with a clear answer to this.. have you?
Take for example a plumber - let's call him Bob. Bob owns Big Bob's Plumbing. If Bob were like most people he would say "What am I selling? That's a dumb question. I do plumbing.".. Ah but Bob isn't like most people. He knows that most people only call him when it's an emergency- maybe they have a clogged sink that no chemical will fix. The people are starting to panic! "We just put in new hard wood floors and I'm afraid they will be ruined", they say.
If good ol' Bob took the time to stand back and look at his customer base he would notice most folks were not so interested in getting a plumber as they were in getting the problem fixed. Every time he unclogged a customer's drains they were happy and relieved that their problem was fixed. That's why Big Bob's Plumbing doesn't sell plumbing, but peace of mind. That's right, Bob is selling a feeling not a service or product.
